| I recently istalled Mcafee Anti Virus 7.03 and since the install my computer takes quite a long time to shutdown,wondering if any one has had the same problem

| | many Anti Virus (and firewall) programs are designed to do some checking before they are terminated, just in case it's a virus or trojan that is trying to terminate them. some programs take longer than others. try to determine if you can get by without some services that mcafee has running in the background (like auto update or mail safe protection etc.) |

| a search for AUTOENDTASKS here in allforums will show some of the tweaks for killing things faster that like to hang on. there are three tweaks that change the timings and force closures on shutdown.
like home said, this is probably a service that makes sure that it isnt blown out by a virus. and discovery of WHAT it is would still be a good thing to know even if you set the OS to just nuke em and go on restarting.
