| delhan - There is a tweak to stop Messenger loading with outlook express, just check out the main tweakxp site. Also if you use Norton Antivirus 2003 this has seperate options you need to look at if messenger keeps loading, as even if you end task messenger NA will re-start it again and again.
Wez

oh yeah, make sure you have removed it from startup by running "msconfig" in the run command

| Check Wezz's suggestion for the problem when connecting to the Internet.
As far as wanting the Messenger to start with Outlook Express but not load automatically... That's a bit tricky because it means that a username and password are stored and you can't get that out unless you re-install Windows. It's a huge problem of the Messenger and it's sad that MS didn't "fix" it with the newest version (the problem occurs because when configuring a Messenger account the possibility that Windows gives you to let it store your username and password at the end of the sign-up process is ticked (enabled) by default; once you press OK before unticking that, it's too late).

| Trying going into services and setting "Messenger" from Automatic to Manual.
Also, I am unable to check at the moment, but there may also be options in Group Policy.
