| It takes my Outlook Express almost 30 second to load - during this time I only see the blue frame. My computer is trong enough (512 DDR, 2,6 GHz) and while loading, the system is not busy or overworked. So it must be the OE. It happend for the the first time a week ago and ever since. Anybody has an idea what it coul be? Thanks

| Hi Span, Welcome to the forum.
Have you seen this *tweak* ? http://www.tweakxp.com/display.aspx?id=108
For some users, mostly on WinXP, when they remove windows messenger or just disable it from starting up automatically they experience a great slow down when launching Outlook express. Users who experience such a slow down will find a error in the system error log saying The server {FB7199AB-79BF-11D2-8D94-0000F875C541} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. The solution this problem is quite simple. Just Open up Regedit and search for the string {FB7199AB-79BF-11D2-8D94-0000F875C541} and modify the keys InProc32 and LocalServer32 default key to a empty string. After a reboot, Outlook Express will start up as quickly as possible.
Another thing that has been reported to help is to click Tools > InternetOptions in Internet Explorer. Go to the Advanced tab and scroll down. Make sure that Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0 are checked.
Cheers

| Almost forgot:
Get rid of that annoying "blue frame" too.
Go to Start > Run > Regedit > [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{Unique Identity}\Software\Microsoft\ Outlook Express\5.0] create a new value called 'NoSplash' {REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)} and set value to equal '1' to disable the splash screen. (= to 0 to turn on the splash screen)
Exit the registry and restart Outlook Express.
Cheers

| If the explanation for the tweak is too difficult, you can always do this...
Copy the text in bold into Notepad, save as "fix slow OE.reg", and double-click it to execute. As opposed to what they write on the page, you do not need to reboot or even log off. It works instantly.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FB7199AB-79BF-11d2-8D94-0000F875C541}\InProcServer32]
@=""
"ThreadingModel"=-
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FB7199AB-79BF-11d2-8D94-0000F875C541}\LocalServer32]
@=""

| Hi, thanks a lot! Of course I removed the MSN Messenger, but I had no idea it could slow down Outlook Express. Thanks, you made my day!
