I recently downloaded this program that said it could record telephone conversations onto your harddrive.  I actually have no use for this, but I thought it'd be fun to try.  It does work, however, the recording quality is terrible, and sometimes inaudible.

The program says you need a "voice modem".  I'm not sure if I have that.  Are most modems voice modems?  I know mine is 56k/v.90, and I also think it is data/fax or whatever.  Heres the model:

Intel 536EP V.92 Modem

The best way to tell right off the top is whether the card has input or output jacks for headphones/microphones on the card (above or below where your phone-line plugs in.

mine does, so Im assuming that it is a voice modem.  But then why would the recording be such terrible quality?  Oh well, it doesn't really matter because I'm never going to need it to work.

I've found mine to be very quirky and it's a top of the line US Robotics hardware model!  Much has to do with the audio drivers for the device in my opinion.

Never really had much use for it -- even less now that I'm on broadband.
