| Is it safe to update firmware on a cd or dvd rw drive, I have heard it can ruin the drive, thanx in advance for any advice....

| Hello SaTaN I have update the fireware of my cdrw it was fine. You have to be careful when updateding firmware read all instructions. Remember when you do it is at your own risk and i think it avoids your warrenty. Updating firmware can help problems that you might be having.

| I update firmware on a regular basis (when there's a reason, that is). As mentioned above, just follow the directions precisely.

| I have just got a dvd writer, and there a quite a few discs it wont use, it comes up with (illegal medium) think I will try the firmware update when I can afford another DVD writer, Just in case...

| Are you sure you are using the right discs for your writer i remember getting told that theres the + discs and the - Discs. Your writer will only use the one standard.

| I updated the firmware on my router because I was having problems. It didnt solve my problems AT ALL, but hey, it worked.

| My Writer is a + and - so it has no probs with them, its certain makes of disk like princo, it wont take them and a few others, but the firmware update add the princo and others but I'm a bit scared of using it...
