i get that message after shutting down windows on my second computer...i hate reaching ALLLLLL the way down to turn the switch off...is there a way to get it to shutdown the normal way (window turn comp off)?

1)MSI KT4V

WD 80GB

XP 2200+

Based on the 'vintage' of the machine specs you posted above, it is possible you have an AT case/Power supply in which case your hardware might restrict you from shutting down (powering down) from within Windows.

TC had another post of this nature somewhere else (just can't find it right now)

CHeck your POWER MANAGEMENT in the control panel. On older computers sometimes you have to turn on the appropriate ACPI/APM (whatever) deal.

I know on an old Celeron 433 Mhz motherboard I had to do that.
