Well let me introduce myself my name is Roman I´m from Venezuela and i have a really big problem with my windows xp home edition.

Yesterday a friend came to my house and he was trying to hack his girlfriend hotmail password and he downloaded a program called "HOTMAILHACKING" and i told him "Do not open that file" but it was alittle late and suddenly the program opens and dissapear and the icon in the desktop also dissapeared so i was in shock and then i hit ctrl+alt+del and when it opens it closes again, It means that the program don´t let me open the task manager and when i try to run the regedit it opens but it closes right away, The program its not a virus its a program that runs when windows start so my question is how can i delete that program or at least shutdown the program to let my regedit and task manager work again????

Please help me i search the file in windows and it doesn´t appear to be in my pc, then i run the antivirus program and it´s not a virus its just another program that runs when windows starts and with that program i can´t enter to the regedit or the task manager, PLEASE HELP ME BYE.

SORRY ABOUT MY ENGLISH I HOPE YOU ALL UNDERSTAND WHAT I´M TRYIN´ TO SAY.

Try running msconfig, if that works then go to the startup tab, find the item your looking for and uncheck it. Then reboot. This won't get rid of the suspected item but it may allow you to use your PC properly untill you find the suspect file.

Have you tried System Restore?  If not, go to: Start> All Programs> Accessories>  System tools> System Restore.  Then restore your computer to an earlier time.

If that works then you can start looking for anything this program might have left on your system.

Sorry that's all I can help you with for now.  If that doesn't work I'm sure someone will be along to help you.

Sometimes, not all restoration points work for some reason.  What about trying a couple earlier ones?

Second, sometimes these bogus programs are made to trick you into installing spyware or even worms.  Since you said no virus was found, and I'm assuming your antivirus is up to date,  you should scan for spyware entries using both  Spybot and Ad-Aware Just to be sure it's not something like that and to get it out of the way.

Also, have you tried poking around your program files to look for any suspicious folders that you don't recognize?  Was the program installed or did it simply execute?

Finally, Bulldog or someone else might be able to help you find what may be running using Hijack This, but I do not know enough to help you with the logs it finds so I think you should wait for the big boys to come in and help you there.

And by the way, you should really give your friend a good kick in the pants
