i have created a partition for storing software applications. If i have to restore the hard disk to the menufracturing state using the recovery cd that comes with the computer that i purchased. Will the created partition be deleted. If the partition is not deleted after the recovery, how can i restore my software application in the partition at one go without having to reinstall one by one?

Very likely the partition will be lost in the recovery process. There are recovery CD's that are actually just OEM versions of Windows XP, but I assume you have a "real" recovery CD that will wipe out everything on the harddisk. It is usually possible to create your own "installation" CDROM by copying the I386 folder (which have to contain all installation files) from your harddrive to CDROM and install from there. That requires starting the installation in DOS by using the WINNT command. It would require a FAT32 partition to install on, however.
No, you cannot simply revive the software without reinstalling them. The new registry would not contain any reference to them, so they just would not start.
