Greetings all,

I'll ask you ahead of time to forgive my ignorance, but this oddity is completely stumping me.  I just replaced my old TNT2 32mb vidcard with a GeforceFX5200.  The new card specs state that it supports from 2x up to 8x AGP.  The new card was installed seamlessly, but from everywhere I can think of checking, I'm still only 'getting' (?) 2x AGP.  Obviously, my grasp of this is pretty thin, yet I would have thought I would have seen an improvement here.  Intuitively it seems simply that my system is not taking advantage of the new video card's abilities.  My only guess is that maybe my BIOS settings, or perhaps even my motherboard has something to do with this???  My PC is a Dell Dimension XPST700r, 733 Mhz P3, bought back in August 2000.  (440BX motherboard I think)... Dang Dell ppl make it impossible to get accurate info about components... but here I go ranting...

Anyways, any help at all here would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

AHHHHHHH,

Well then, that surely would explain that.  :-)

Thanks very much.

By the way.... I've been fighting with Dell since I bought this thing... and to no avail.  How exactly did you find out specs, etc. for my motherboard??  I've tried... trust me...  for the life of me I can't figure Dell out...

Thanks again..

Go to https://support.dell.com/register.aspx

Select a Dell system > Dimension XPS T___

Then it opens the support home website, click the Documentation link, then Specifications.

Glaucon did you buy that card though Dell? If so then give them hell about offering a card capable of 8x agp when the motherboard is limited to 2x, see if you cant give them to either A: Give you your money back for the card, or B: give you a new motherboard that supports 4x at least.
