| This may be a really stupid quesion but is there a way to add a printer as a stand alone printer in your LAN?
I do not want to add it to a particular PC to the printer just to get it to function...
My printer sits by itself and is rather large (HP printer/scanner combo)
Any suggestions?
My Lan is ran through a Linksys Ethernet Router (not wireless)

| You need a printer hub, but this does essentially the same thing as connecting the printer to a PC and sharing the printer (except the printer is directly connected to every PC so there is no 'server' that hs to be on to use the printer). Either way you have to install the drivers for the printer on each machine that is going to use it.
Write your questions down on the back of a $20 dollar bill and send them to me.

| Do you know if Linksys makes a printer hub?
Can you recommend any brand that I should look for?

| These work pretty decent. Make sure it has a USB or LPT port.

| I'm still confused as to why you would want to go through the extra trouble of a printer hub as opposed to just sharing the printer?

| Its is the way my Lan is set up...I don't want to assign a specific PC to the printer...usually my LAN has some PC's on and some off and when I print, I need to make sure that the PC with the printer is on...
It is never the same PC that I am using so it can be some what annoying...I know this does not make sense but it is a weird LAN set-up.
Do you have any suggestions...?
