| h3!!0,
I'm looking for a laptop for a friend for college. She is complete computer illiterate (sp?) and has asked me to find her a good deal with enough power to last for 4 years. I know pretty much what I'm looking for, and I was wondering if anyone knew of good websites to find good products. Something like NewEgg- but for Laptops. She's looking to spend under $1500 for a quality notebook. And for some reason she said "NO COMPAQs!!!!" I was looking for an HP because they seem to have good rigs (owned by the same people but dont tell her that ).
So please h00k me up with some good websites. Thanks

| Can't go wrong with a Dell. My Latitude has lasted 3 years so far, and it's still going strong.

| Do you have any Sam's Clubs around where you live? I just bought my girlfriend a laptop from there for under $900. It is an Avertec notebook. It is a new mfg. but it is of high quality and is a great deal for the specs that rival my $2000 Sharp laptop. It is also pretty small so it is great for sticking in your backpack.
Your friend is right, Compaq's do suck. I have had many friends at school that have had serious problems with their compaq laptops. From what I heard from them, Compaq support is a huge pain in the butt and it took them more than a month to get their laptops repaired. They had problems with the laptop overheating and that caused parts of the laptop to actually melt. Since HP and Compaq are the same company, I am assuming that they share support as well. HP used to make decent laptops. I wonder if they still do...

No, but I do have a Costco which is about the same type of store. I found a great deal on an HP desktop at Costco--hopefully they will have good laptop deals too.
About Dell-
I know they have great machines, but I am positive I can get a laptop of their quality for significantly cheaper.
