| My computer won't boot at all and I really really hope you guys here could help me.
Here's what happened: Yesterday, I installed a couple of VSTi's and in order for them to work, I had to move around the *.dll files into different folders, but I didn't move them, i just copied them to different locations. The original files where still in thei native folders. Now, I just THINK this is the problem, since I can't really remember doing anything else that could have screwed up the computer like this.
Anyway, everything was fine, it was late and I went to bed, I shut down the computer..no complains there. However, when I woke up his morning, everything loads fine but when the start-up screen shows up, the one with the XP logo and a little progressbar below, the screen turns blue (like my desktop) and then it just hangs there. I restart it and just before the Logo-screen should appear, a wierd blue screen appears saying something about windows not booting correctly. I tried restarting windows in safe mode, then this blue screen shows up again...I tried to restart windows with "last changes that worked" (or something like that) then the blue screen shows up...
I have no idea what I can do. on the blue screen, it says something about disabeling all bios memory stuff, lika cacheing and shadowing...but can that help me?? and if it does...how do I do that? when I press delete when windows loads to enter the setup up, the blue set up screen shows up but everything is in chineese or something...can't understand a thing.
Please help
Thank you very much

| from microsoft knowlege base
SYMPTOMSWhen you use volumes that use the NTFS file system on integrated device electronics (IDE) drives with caching enabled, you may receive the following error message during startup:
Stop 0x000000ED Unmountable_Boot_Volume The normal recovery process in such a case is to run the chkdsk /r command from Recovery Console, and then continue. On OEM versions of Windows XP, the Recovery Console may not be accessible. If this fix has not been included in the OEM build of Windows XP, you may not be able to enter Recovery Console and run the chkdsk /r command for recovery. For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: very console and use chddsk /r

| go into Bios and set it so you boot from cd first.
insert your xp cd and reboot, watch the monitor and when it gives the option to repair an installation do as it say's till you get recovery console
don't forget the space between "chkdsk" and "/r" in the command
let us know how it goes

| here's another problem:
i run the chkdsk /r, but then it stops:
"AUTOCHK.EXE could not be located in either the startup directory or the CDROM drive.
Type the full path (including drive letter) for the location of AUTOCHK.EXE: AUTOCHK.EXE cannot be found in the specified location."
