| I would like to put a shortcut on the desktop to map a network drive that I often use to backup files onto. I already have the toolbar icons for map and disconnect, but it would be nice not to have to open "My Computer" or Explorer just to do this.
Anybody know how to do this?
Thanks....

| I believe you can just drag it to the desktop just like any other drive. Or right click and Create Shortcut then cut and paste that shortcut to the desktop.

| I think he just wants the mapping/disconnecting toolbars out on his desktop rather than the mapped drive itself (unless I misread the post).
Those functions are locked in the shell somewhere (some unnamed *.dll file) and I don't think that's possible but there are some master tweakers out there that like a challenge!

| Right click, new > shortcut > in the location enter:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe shell32, SHHelpShortcuts_RunDLL Connect

| Thanks j79zlr....
Candadude was right...I wanted the equivalent of the toolbar button.
I tried it and it pops up the map drive dialog..perfect!
Now can I do the same to pop up the "disconnect" box ?
I tried changing it to :
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe shell32, SHHelpShortcuts_RunDLL DisConnect
but it didn't work.
What a great forum , to get an answer so quick
Thanks, again...

| %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe shell32, SHHelpShortcuts_RunDLL Disconnect
You have to have a mapped netowrk drive or else it will give you an error saying you don't have any to disconnect.
