| Which microsoft update is better? I have learned through experience to ask before putting something like this on. Just because an upodate is newer....does not mean it is always better! So which version is more stable? SP1 or SP1a?? I have win xp pro.

| They are the same except that SP1a doesn't have java virtual machine. If you use Sun Java it doesn't matter anyway.

| I don’t see any reason to install SP1a. SP1a was only released after the court ruling that came from the legal battle with Microsoft and Sun Microsystems. Basically, SP1a is SP1 with Microsoft VM removed.
Get a copy of SP1. I am sure that there are some sites that still have it.
