I'm kinda tired, of dodging this update. I read here that MS revised it when they took it off the critical update list, but not enough opinions were rendered to make me feel warm and cozy about it.

I had a nightmare with the original, and breathed a sigh of intense relief when the uninstaller actually worked and my machine started to hum again. And I had none of the stuff on my machine that MS admitted the Hotfix had conflicts with.

BUT ... I have the revised version now, and ALL of the other "criticals" to date, and everything is rocking, and I've read a gazillion reports of "no damage" on the revised version of the troublemaker on the Net.

Of course, YMMV, but it still IS possible to uninstall that hotfix if you haven't already deleted the $...$ file for it at the beginning of your Windows folder list. I always leave those there for a few days of "normal" computing after a hotfix, and only dump them and the uninstall entry in Add-Remove when I'm sure all is well.

Thanks Wisewiz:

I'll give it a try, and save the uninstall file. Today is weekly cleansing day. I just tried AdAware, build 181, it's nice!

It seems fine so far.

I must have been a good boy. Spybot Search and Destroy reported no new threats.
