If you are setting up for the first time or reset your router settings for whatever reason....MAKE SURE TO CLONE YOUR PC'S MAC ADDRESS. I just fought with my router and cable modem for two days because I forgot about that. Just though I would save someone else the trouble.
It is under the settings in the router. Your manual should provide all instructions depending on the brand. I would just go to their website if you don't have it handy.

Thanks Eliot
I am using Linksys BEFSR41 and I accessed the router utility via http://192.168.1.1.
Under MAC Address Clone (in the advanced setup), my user-defined WAN MAC address is 00.00.00.00.00.00. (default setting). What do I need to look for to clone my PC MAC Address??
Mine is a BEFSX41 and right under the boxes with the WAN MAC is "Clone the MAC Address of this PC" with a radio button. I just put the dot in the button and hit apply. It sounds as if yours may already be cloned. Are you losing your connection alot?
