| | says no updates available, when trying to do a update, but when looking at technet about the security problem in 2003, there was a link to get the patch, but it asked me if I was 32 bit or 64 bit. |

| Most likely 32 bit. There aren't many 64 bit processors out there.

| i downloaded the 32 bit version of the patch, ran it and got this error.patch only for build 3790. I have the evaluation version of 03 build number 3718. That sucks, I could just close all my ports except for the ones that I use, if I knew how to close them. I only use this computer for internet(port 80) anyway but, id like to learn how to do that anyway. so how do I close ports that are unused. |

| Well closing all ports except port 80 will not allow you to run a mail server.
Mail SMTP server normaly requires port 25 open unless you change it to the port of your choice.
If you dont think you will use SMTP simply go in to the xp default firewall and block everything bar your IIS and everything else neededfor incoming connections, |

| im just playing with it as a OS, not a NOS. so I guess it doesn't matter. so I dont have a mail server or a file server or a DNS server, or a DHCP server. or anything like that. |

| The Enterprise version doesn't even install IIS by default.
