| Hello to All,
I apologize if this post is far off but this place is full of savvy people and always resolves my issues.
I have a Compaq Presario 2500 Notebook Model 2535QV and I am locked out of the bios with a password. I need to reset the password but every support angle throws me to HP for a $298 Mail-in or $50 Drop-off. In the past removing the battery on most Motherboards would fix the problem. I took apart the whole thing so I know it pretty well now down to the motherboard. I removed the RTC battery for 5 minutes but after reassembling and rebooting it was still the same.
Any help would be very appreciated in resetting this password.
Thanks to all! |

| Hi Riana
I am not sure if this will help, but pull both batteries again and then push the power on button as if starting the computer.
I found that here;

| Try CmosPwd.
Scroll down to Cmos password recovery tools 5.0 (October 2007)
Download this > "DOS/Windows 9x and Windows NT/W2K/XP/2003 versions,zip".
Read the following,cmospwd.txt:

| | Thanks for the help guys. The last option from Richie suggested that the cmos password is stored in eeprom chip and would need to reprogram to reset with a programming device. Stuck at this point. |

| Hi Riana
I haven't used OPHcrack to get a BIOS password but I have used it to retrieve others, so I'm not absolutely sure it will work for your purposes. OPHcrack is open source. Down load the 3rd choice the ISO image if your OS is XP. Burn or mount the program to a disc, then boot to the disc and hopefully it will work.
