| | I have windows 00, and 03. But my games only run on 00. So my main game that i play Need For Speed Hot Pursuit2 lags when I set the graphics to best, with special effects and everything. I think the problem is my CDROM being slow. I may be 32X at fastest, its a CDRW which also may slow it down. But then when viewing my mempry usage during the game and my processor usage. My processor usage is at 100% while my memory os not even half used. I have a P3 1.1ghz processor and 256 RAM. any tweaks that can help me, or from way to copy the game CD to a folder on the HD and point the game to look there. I got one program like that but it did not work. I do not really want to pay for something like that. thanks |

| I'm a bit confused; on which system are you having that problem? 2000 or 2003?

| Well, I hope someone of the gaming experts will jump in here. I use 2000 as my main system but never play games.
Did you install DirectX 8.1b?
(Or, if you have a card that supports DX9, did you install DirectX 9?)

| Open a Run prompt, type dxdiag and press Enter. This will load the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, which shows you the version you got and if there are any problems with it.

| version 8.1.
graphics card is a Nvidia GeFroce2 with 32mb ram on card if that helps |

| | i have "cloned" the game CD to the HD, and still have lag. cant I download a better driver for my Nvidia graphics card. I think i might need a faster processor too maybe. Might get a 3.2 intel. $800 for motherboard and all. good deal I think |
