| When did it start and what was the last thing you did before this time? Install anything? Update anything?
Same thing happen in Safe Mode w/ Networking?
Try backing up email into a file and deleting from Outlook then re-opening Outlook to test?
Could be corrupt header, corrupt profile, corrupt Outlook, virus, etc...

| I just noticed that the welcome page is causing the trouble. When finally being able to browse my e-mails and returning to the welcome page I have to wait another 30 seconds (it also looks like the program is chrashing but after 30 seconds I do get the page) |

| yes I did remove messenger. I even started the service for preventing it would ever run. I'll see what it does when I disable the service. |

| Did you tweak the registry to stop Outlook Express looking for Messenger ar startup? If not, that causes lengthy delays.
Just in case you didn't. Here it is.
Start/Run/Regedit
Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express. Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) Value Name: Hide Messenger Value Data: (2 = remove messenger).
Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called 'Hide Messenger' and set the value to 2.
Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
