| Hi there again.
Recently, my computer has started freezing up or "hanging". I'm quite sure it has something to do with my earlier problem that I mentioned here.
According to the Event Manager, there are parity or controller errors (please refer attached screenshots).
I've run a chkdsk and my HDD still shows 0 bad sectors. It's a 160GB Western Digital HDD that was bought in February 2008. The motherboard and other parts (e.g., RAM, display card, etc.) were bought in January 2007.
My question is this: according to the Event Manager reports in the attached screenshot, is the problem with my motherboard or with the HDD?

| First i suggest you take a look through this Google search,see if there's a solution there:

If still no joy turn off your pc,disconnect it from the mains power supply,this is extremely important.
Then unplug all/any printers/scanners/external drives etc
Open the case,disconnect the power cable from your cd-rom drive/drives.
If you have more than one memory stick installed,remove them all but one.
Remove all/any cards such as video/sound etc.
When you've done close the case,power the pc back up.
Let us know what happens.

I tried what you suggested, but now I can't get the PC to start up. The display won't show and the HDD light just lights up and nothing happens.
(By the way, I'm using my laptop to make this post.) |

| Replace the video card and all the ram [memory sticks],what happens.
If you're able to,boot into the BIOS and make sure your 'HARD DISK' is set up as 'First Boot Device'.
