| Hello,
Previously had 2 sticks of 256 PC2100 ram in my Gateway 1.8 Mhz system.
Recently upgraded to 2 sticks of 512 mb PC2100 ram from Crucial.
I stuck with PC2100 because that is what was in my system when I got it in March 2002.
Should I or could I have gone to PC2700 ram?
Would my system/mobo even recognize it, and would I have gotten an even better performance gain?
Currently the 2 sticks of 512mb PC2100 are working great.
Thanks.

Only you can answer that, since we don't know what motherboard you have .

| The price diff between the two (at least in the UK) is very small so, if your mobo could support it, then maybe you should have gone for thefaster of the two...

| Your right, It would be good to give you info on my mobo.
This is what I know from the Gateway site regarding my system.
845 El Paso 2 Motherboard (P4 1.8Ghz).
I know much about my system, but when it comes to the mobo it's not my strong point.
Thanks for your responses.

| Thanks for the replys everyone.
Since I have already purchased and installed the pc2100 ram, my questions are after the fact. No need to drive myself crazy.
I'll just stick to what I have. System works well anyway.
I upgraded from 512mb to 1024mb.
