| | Hey everyone: I had a quick question about reinstalling Windows XP. My roommate had a virus so I reinstalled XP pro on his laptop. However, I forgot to delete the NTFS partition that had XP on it before and I guess I installed the OS on the same partition. I recall getting a message about installing multiple OS and I proceeded anyway. So I tried to go back and delete the partition and start from scratch but it wouldn't let me. Is this a problem? Is it necessary to delete the old partition prior to reinstalling XP again? or will it be ok the way it is? Thanks, Mark. |

| | If you've just installed the OS, what would another hour hurt to make sure that it's been installed properly? |

| | I am not sure what you mean by waiting another hour. My question was: When reinstalling XP, do you need to delete the original partition with the OS on it?? Or can you reinstall XP over that? In other words, am I going to run into problems down the road because I did not delete the partition. Thanks. |

| What Carolina means is why not just start all over again and this time format the partition first. Sometimes having multiple OS's on the same partition can cause problems in the long run.

| | Thanks Allan and Carolina. It worked when I just tried it (starting over) (I tried starting over last night and it wasn't working). Thanks again. |
