Click on Start>Run and type Services.msc then press OK.
Scroll down and double click on each of the following services:
BitDefender Communicator
BitDefender Desktop Update Service
BitDefender Threat Scanner

In the next window that opens,click their 'Stop' buttons.
Then change their 'Startup Types' to 'Disabled'.
Now press Apply and then OK and close any open windows.


Click on Start>Run and type Services.msc again then press OK.
Scroll down and find the service called:
IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service
When you find it, double-click on it.
In the next window that opens, click the 'Start' button if its set to 'Stopped'..
Then change the 'Startup Type:' to 'Automatic' if its set to 'Disabled'.
Now press Apply and then OK and close any open windows.

Restart your pc.

If you're still experiencing the same issues i suggest you backup any important data by whatever means you have,format the drive and reinstall the operating system.

Everything seems to be working ok now. What happens when I reinstall Bitdefender?

You do have Authentium AntiVirus running on your pc so there' no real need to reinstall Bitdefender if you don't want.
Its not a good idea to have more than one antivirus program installed on your computer.
Each program may interpret the actions of the other as viral, therefore giving you false virus warnings about virus-related activities.
It could also lead to system slowdowns and other problems within the operating system,due to the two conflicting with each other.
If you do want to reinstall Bitdefender,you should uninstall/remove Authentium AntiVirus first.


When you've finished you should then go to Windows Update and install all the latest important/high priority updates including Service Pack 3.


You should then take the time to read and follow the information found in the links below,to help you prevent any possible future infections and stay safe and secure while online:

I just did the SP3 thing and havent decided on the AV program. I did pay for Bit Defender so I may reinstall.
