| | I've got 3 computers that came with the Office trial that has Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Outlook. I've bought Office Home and Student but the product key will not work. I was hoping it would disable Outlook and Access and let me use the rest of the suite. Do I need to uninstall and install from the disk I've got, on all three of these computers? Thanks |

| As far as I know yes, that's what you need to do. You might want to contact MS to be sure, but I don't believe Office versions are interchangeable.

| Are the two versions 2003 or 2007 or is one 2003 and the other 2007? I believe you have to uninstall the Trial version before installing the paid version.

| | Thanks Allan, it seems that way. Berton, both are 2007. Generally there is no need to uninstall trials, you can just put in the license key. |

| vinceione (7/3/2008) Thanks Allan, it seems that way.
Berton, both are 2007. Generally there is no need to uninstall trials, you can just put in the license key.You mentioned having the Trial version of Office trial that has Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Outlook installed on the computers. According to the Office 2007 brochure I got at OfficeMax and the page at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101635841033.aspx the only versions of Office 2007 that include both Outlook and Access are Professional and Ultimate.
I've bought Office Home and Student but the product key will not work. My feeling is that the various versions of Office are different from each other and the purchased CD Key won't work with the trial version unless they are identical versions. Most software publishers do it that way just to keep one from buying the cheap version then using the license on the more expensive version and that makes the uninstall of the Trial version necessary.

| | MS allows some conversions of the product, and not others: Can I convert the trial software to a different suite (for example, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 to Microsoft Office Standard 2007 or Microsoft Office Small Business 2007)? No. You cannot convert a trial of one suite of the Microsoft Office release into a trial version or a full-product version of another if your preinstalled software is Office Home and Student 2007 or Office Small Business 2007. However, if your preinstalled software is Microsoft Office Professional 2007, you have the option to convert to Microsoft Office Basic 2007, Office Small Business 2007, or Office Professional 2007. |
