| All of a sudden, I can't get in to the google website by typing google.com in my address bar. I'm running Windows XP, Firefox 3. It was working fine until a few days ago. I am also having a problem getting in to google using IE 7, which I tried out of desperation. I normally don't use IE at all. Thru Yahoo search, I cam across a forum posting that suggested I try to get to google by typing http://72.14.207.99/ which worked. They said it was probably a DNS error. Great. Now what???? If I have a DNS problem, how do I fix it?? I tried doing a system restore, but it won't let me go back more than a few days. (That's another problem I'm having but I'll save it for another day! LOL!)
Any suggestions as to what I have to do? I don't know whether this is something I can do or if I have to call my ISP (Cox Cable) and have them fix it. One posting suggested I re-boot my router. I'm okay with computers, but if it involves messing with my registery....forget it!
Thanks for any help you can give me! |

| I downloaded & ran the WinSock XP Fix. Still can't get in to google. I've tried running Firefox in Safe Mode. Still no go. I have eliminated all my FF3 add-ons & a bunch of the extensions but still no go. Looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet & call Tech Support at Cox Cable. Grrrr!
Thanks for the help! I'll alert you when and if I get it fixed!

| Download Trend Micro HijackThis 2.0.2 to your desktop:
Double click on HJTInstall.exe,it will prompt you to extract hijackthis.exe to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
When the install is complete,HijackThis will automatically launch.
When the license agreement appears, select "I Accept" and then click on the "Do a system scan only" button.
When the scan is complete, click on the "Save Log" button, then save it to your desktop.
Copy and paste the entire contents of that log into a new topic in the HijackThis Logs forum, not here.
