| Hello
My friend asked me why her computer had no sound after she moved, hell I don't know I say !
I checked volume and device manager, no help, then followed some www leads and checked BIOS, enabled audio bla bla, now I get new hardware notice but I have NO IDEA how to update driver or even what I am looking for.
I had given up on this sound thing, but tonight, while in safe mode, fixing with Registry Repair Pro, I noticed that every three repairs I got a beep, I didn't realize this computer had any sound!!!!! Now am curious, why do I have beep sounds and no others?
HELP PLEASE |

| Hi tallard
Could the beeps be coming from the internal speaker on the mother board?
Download Belarc Advisor, it will tell you what sound card you have, and then you can go to the manufacturers site and get the drivers.

| Good evening
Installed Belarc Advisor, only related item visible seems to be :
Multimedia: Envy24 Family Audio Controller WDM
I went to that website, downloaded their program, but it's a PROGRAM, not a driver for whatever is in this computer.
The website that got me checking BIOS stated that the openings on the back of my box were meaningful, so here they are:
mouse ... keyboard
3 serial ports
4-USB ports 1-ethernet
1-MIC, 1-IN + 1-OUT speakers?
2 larger serial ports
row of jack holes front, rear, line, s/pdif, etc.
Here is more Belarc info:

For now, I'm going to return the old BIOS setting, as now I get all sorts of error messages around sound choices. At least the other way, there are no errors, only silence
Thanks for your efforts, looking forward to your suggestions

| | The most common issue I've seen after a move is that the speaker wires are not connected correctly. Assuming of course it is a desktop computer, not a laptop. |

| No speakers now,
No external speakers at all? The computer has to have external speakers to play audio sounds, otherwise there is just the motherboard speaker that beeps.
Here is a link to another program that will tell you what is in your computer. It is free also.

| Good evening
Well I work on 6 computers at work, and have had home computers that had plenty of sound coming out of the tower itself. I understand more about software than hardware, but I thought that's what soundcards did...
Right now, in addition to no sound coming out of the tower, I also don't get sound via headset, and I used to get that...
sigh |

| I thought that's what soundcards did I maybe wrong but not in my experience. My sound card has jacks that my speakers plug into.
Did you check the Device Manager for yellow question marks? Right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager.
Did you try Everest from my post above, any results as to the audio hardware under "Computer>Summary" then scroll to Multimedia?
