My laptop has decided not to turn on at all.
I can stick the power cord in and the battery seems to be charging but once I press the power button nothing seems to happen.
I thought it may be the battery, but I thought that with the power cord in you shouldn't need the battery but I am not sure if that is the case. If it is the battery I have no problem with buying a new one, what I don't want to do is buy a new battery and find out that it is something else. Can any shed some light on this?

I guess it's possible that a bad battery could cause that, tho I've never heard of it. I would remove the battery and try turning on like that. I run without batteries in several laptops, no problem doing that.
