| | For the past few days my computer has been running unusually slow and frequently locks up. I decided to see if a memory problem could be causing these issues, but while scanning with the Windows memory diagnostic tool my computer shut itself off partway through. Does this indicate a memory problem? Or some other hardware problem? Or something else entirely? I'd appreciate any help seeing as I don't have much knowledge in this area. Thank you. |

| Download a memory diagnostic utility (Google) that will check your ram at boot, not from within the OS.

| Do you have multiple sticks of ram? If so, remove one and then run the test again. If it fails, switch sticks and repeat the process. If you have only one stick of ram then you might consider replacing it. Based on your experience it does sound as though the memory may be bad. Just make sure you buy the ram from a source that will accept a return just in case that's not the problem.
