I have got a 'SigmaTel C-major Audio' sound driver installed on my system which I do not recognise. When this driver is enabled I have no sound on my pc, but once it's been disabled I have sound.

I have uninstalled the driver, and restarted my pc as instructed to complete the uninstall, I then have sound on my pc for that windows session.

However, after a full shut down of the pc, I've noticed that Windows is detecting it as New Hardware on start-up, and re-installing the drivers each time, I therefore have to disable it, or uninstall it & restart,  each time before starting my session.

Whilst this isn't a big problem, it's annoying. . . is there anyway to remove this driver permanently? I've been thru the uninstall process several times now, but each time it reappears on start-up.

On the previous thread, RichieUK asked for a Hijackthis uninstall log, (see below) and then asked me to remove/uninstall:
SigmaTel C-Major Audio
Viewpoint Media Player
and then restart.

Having tried that, I can't remove Viewpoint media player at all, and every time I remove the SigmaTel C-major Audio driver, it re-loads itself the next time I boot-up.

As for disabling it on the BIOS, and changing 'Jumpers', I know what you talking about, but it sounds a bit technical for my level of knowledge. . . any suggestions? If I have sound, with the new card's drivers installed, do I need to change any jumpers or BIOS settings at all?
