| several problems, but it looks like its all related to my desktop pcs modem/ethernet card settings.
Here are the various issue, in no particular order.
We have vonage, and the pcs behind their motorola hub, no software, or hints for tweaking. This way, I only get something like 30k on DL. If I reconnect the puter directly to the modem, it shows "limited/no connectivity", and an even worse rate (3-5k/s. )
But if I plug my laptop directly into the modem, it jumps to 150k or more.
And, if I connect the two computers with a crossover cable, the laptop shows good connection, but the pc is still hamstrung, and getting them to recognize each other is nearly impossible. The network wizard just doesent seem to want to work.
So, my problems are thus:
How to get the desktop to work well through the router?
Why wont it connect directly to the modem anymore?
How can I get the two modems (desktop and pc) to talk to each other efficently and regularly?
I know the "wizards" should do it, but they just don't want to work for me.
Oh, and the PC isnt able to renew its ip address, when I choose the connections "repair" function.
Sorry, I know this could all be unrelated and I hate the scattershot approach, but the desktops network card seems to be the only constant.
Thanks in advance,
