| | Hi, Is it possible to stop XP from switching off the Power supply after it has shut down? ie I would like it to work like Windows 95 type, where it tells you "It is now safe to turn off your computer" and then you switch it off at the button. For some reason I do not have a APM check box under my Power Options at the Control Panel. I'm running XP sp2. Any help would be very much appreciated!! |

| The latter versions of Windows make full use of the ATX/mATX motherboard resources and the power-off is one of them.
Early versions of the OS such as Win95 were frequently installed on AT-style motherboards that did not have the same resources as the ATX. It would be quite a regression to the AT boards, probably can't even find one now. The ATX boards in some of the older OEM computers were of a different design and also did not have the full APM and ACPI support of boards of the last 8-10 years.
