| | Hi, I am using XP pro. when i try to open unknown file , "open with " menu appear. I select one programme say Notepad to open it. At the bottom of that menu, checkbox for "Always use the selected programe to open this kind of file" is disabled. I to activate that. Thanks |

| That choice may not be available if using an entry in the top section of the Open with... list, frequently have to scroll to the lower part of the list and click on the program desired then put a checkmark in the box to retain the choice.

| Don't think this will help,try it anyway:
Copy and paste ALL the following text in the Quote box below into Notepad.
Click on File(in the menu at the top)>Save as../Save as Type: 'All Files' /File name: fix.reg to your desktop.
Then double click on the fix.reg file on your desktop and agree to merge the information into the registry,then restart your pc.
