I have just started experiencing the random appearance of a bsod, this can happen at any time and does not seem to relate to any specific programme. When restarting it boots up ok and may not happen for several days, but it has done it twice this morning.  When rebooting I get the following message that Windows is recovering from an unexpected shutdown.  The blue screen goes so quickly I am unable to read it. I believe that there is a way to be able to read this but I can't remember what it is.

Click Start>Control Panel>System>Advanced System Settings under 'Tasks' on the left>Startup and Recovery 'Settings' button.
Under 'System Failure' uncheck 'Automatically restart',then OK your way out.
The next time it tries to randomly restart,it will display an error message on a blue screen instead.
Take note of that onscreen error message and let us know the exact wording.

Thank you Richie, I have done as suggested and just wait and see if it comes up again.  One thing that I thought might be the problem is that I have been using OpenDNS I have reverted back to the default settings to see if that was the problem.
