I recently decided to take advantage of this tv's convertibility as a monitor. But it's way too bright, and it doesn't have sound, even though it has speakers in it like most tv's. I changed the settings to monitor with speakers in but it didn't work. And I don't know how to fix the brightness issue either.

Forgive me if I assume too much or too little...the brightness should be controlled by the TV itself. I don't recall a TV without controls for Bright/Color/Contrast etc. The sound should be fed to the TV through cables from the sound card output jack on the computer to the input jack on the TV. How did you make the computer to TV connections? Are you sure you want to use a TV as a monitor, usually they are less than satisfactory especially on text.

Realtek ALC 888S
Nvidia 8800 GT OC 512mb
Cuppa JFG right by the monitor

I've decided to stay with the 20" moniter I have. I thought it wasn't bright or was losing clarity but I just had to redo the factory settings and it's doing good now. And yeah, the tv moniter was horrendous on text.
