| The ps2 port on my motherboard has croaked. Multiple keyboards tried and always..."keyboard not found, press F1 to resume" error halts my boot. Bought a USB keyboard and plugged it up, no joy. The no kb error went away but I was in the middle of adding a new disk and loading an image onto it. Alas, the new 300GB drive tries to boot and gives "missing os" error. Obviously, I haven't loaded the image so thats the reason for the error there. Problem is, with no keyboard working, I can't change the BIOS boot order, nor toggle F8 to pick what to boot from so I can load the image. I am ready to just rebuild the whole pc altogether in the near future, but it would be nice to get the joker to boot so I could get off this blasted laptop and its cramped keyboard, lol.

| This may sound crazy but have you tried all usb ports? I have seen a couple of times where usb keyboards only work in certain slots.

| I've got two hubs and 12 ports. I'll check them all and post back in a few.

| Start with all the 'onboard' or 'built-in' ports first

| Removed the hubs and tried all 6 that are motherboard controlled. I don't have any USB pci cards. Would one of those allow a motherboard that can't use a USB keyboard for BIOS funtions, actually work? It appears the motherboard is just so old, it does not have the ability to recognize the kb until windows loads.

| I dont know about a pci card but I would doubt it. Like you mentioned the mobo may be so old it has to wait for the usb drivers to kick in before it works. Hopefully someone else may have a solution.
