| i posted this on the old forum, but i got nowhere, i'll try again.
i have changed the icons for my computer, my documents, my network places, and recycle bin with other icons using customize desktop under display properties. i also renamed those icons. for some reason, all the icons AND titles go back to default. this happens constantly, i dont have to be doing anything, i can be playing a game, come back, and theyve changed, i can go take a "wee wee", come back and theyve changed. this is even after a fresh install of windows. (actually probably the last 6 or 7 installs) someone was telling me that it is an icon caching problem. this is NOT the case because they would not be renamed back to default as well.
wtf does this keep happening?????

| i guess not. can't understand it. i have installed many hundreds of custom icons on my own PCs and lots of others and never had the trouble you described. so, i was thinking perhaps it was a location-being-corrupted issue...but who knows...? |

I have the same problem. Did you ever get a solution?
By the way, in the past when I unhid the protected system files, there was a db file on the desktop, and there isn't one now. - AE

| I get the same problems if I install the newer "forced" nvidia drivers. Also one other program causes this but I forgot which one already.

| You probably know this but here goes- right click on open space on your desktop, then click on arrange icons by then if there a click by lock web items on desktop disable it. I don't know if this will sort your problem but its worth a try.
