| I have read the fixed topic and ran all the scans it told me to. I have norton antivirus 2007 and it hasnt been working for a week. It doesn't load during startup or whenever i try to open it from the start menu. I tried uninstalling it from control panel but i keep on getting an error. Whenever i try to run the cd, the autorun file doesnt work. Then i click on the .exe files inside the folders of the cd and i keep on getting an error about an msi must be launched through setup. i'm not sure if this is the right place to be trying to get this fixed, if not, please direct me to the proper forum. here is my hijack this log, thanks.

First download and run the Norton Removal Tool:

*Please Note*
The Norton Removal Tool will remove all Norton/Symantec products from your pc.
Download/unzip Dial-a-Fix to its own folder on your desktop:
http://djlizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix-v0.60.0.24.zip
Open the Dial-a-Fix folder,launch the program by clicking on the blue cog-wheel icon.
Place a check in the 'MSI' box 'Fix Windows Installer'.
Then click on 'GO' at the bottom.
Restart your pc when Dial-a-Fix has done.
Try installing Norton,if still no joy try this:
Download/install Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=889482FC-5F56-4A38-B838-DE776FD4138C&displaylang=en
Scroll down to 'Files in This Download'.
Click the 'Download' button for 'WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe'.
Restart your pc when its installed.
If still no joy,see if this helps:
Click Start/Run,type services.msc
Locate the service "Windows Installer"
Right click on "Windows Installer" and select "Properties"
Click on the "Log On" tab
Place a check in the box "Allow Service to Interact with Desktop".
Press Apply/OK,restart your pc.
Download Combofix by sUBs and save to your desktop.
Alternative Combofix download link HERE.
Note
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop
Now close any open browsers.
Double click on Combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note
Do not mouseclick combofix's window or do anything else on your pc while it's running.
That may cause the program/system to freeze/hang.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.
Note
In case your Antivirus or any other realtime scanner is displaying an alert after you downloaded Combofix or while you use Combofix,please disable your scanner and redownload Combofix again.
Some scanners may see some combofix related components as suspicious and block or delete them while there's nothing wrong with them.
Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

| It's running well. I do have a question though. I have ZoneAlarm Pro. It scanned my computer and found Win32.Trojan.Virtumod.257 in the ccApp.exe file in the Symantec Shared folder. What do I do about that?

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
(If using Windows Vista,be sure to "Run As Administrator").
* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy and paste the entire report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.
Run this online virus/spyware scan using Internet Explorer:

Next click Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
• Now click on Scan Settings
• In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
• Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
• Standard
• Scan Options:
• Scan Archives
• Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK
• Now under select a target to scan:
• Select My Computer
• This will start the program and scan your system.
• The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
• Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect,i need to see the scan results.
• Now click on the Save as Text button.
• Save the file to your desktop.
• Copy and paste the contents of that file into your next reply.
