| | hi all. i have a compaq computer (winxp home). And i install sp2 with windows update a fews day ago. and then it told me to restart. so i restarted. But when i went on the internet to see something the internet wasnt working. All the wires all fine, my cable modem is working and on. But i don't think sp2 got install. the secturity thing in control panel wasnt there. and then restarted again a few times. and then a error came. saying windows not found or something. so i had to do a recovery. and everything is gone. what did i do wrong? |

| Sounds like you had some corruption. It may have happened during the sp2 install. I think its a seperate problem and probably was going to happen whether sp2 was being installed or not. Memory and hard drives are known to cause the corruption you're describing (windows not found). You didnt do anything wrong in my opinion.

| | oh. It did say something when it was installing that one of the thing fail. Just 1 thing. So should i try to install it again? |

| Yes I would. If you get another error during the reinstall please post back with the error.

| i will do it in like in a few weeks. DOn't ask its a long story................. my room being done. i am on other comp.
EDIT: i install it and now sp2 is install!! I had to edit this since i couldnt reply LOL. |

| I found when installing SP2 my system stopped halway through the install with some error message ( a long time ago now so I cannot remember the message) this may be the obvious but I found by going to run enter msconfig click on startup programmes and then disable all start up programmes. I then installed SP2 without any problems. Then start up progs required were reinstated. Hope this may help.
